Hiring workers from Serbia — for employers

The process of hiring foreign workers in Greece is always initiated by the employer. This means that the candidate cannot independently obtain a work permit — the employer submits the application to the relevant authorities.

Nikana Connect is a platform that connects candidates and employers but does not participate in the hiring process or the issuance of work permits. The entire process is conducted by the employer in accordance with Greek law.

1

Employer initiates the procedure

The Greek employer submits an electronic application to the Directorate for Foreigners and Migration via the official Migration.gov.gr portal. The application can be submitted personally or through a lawyer/accountant.

2

Selecting the application category

Within the portal, the employer selects the appropriate category depending on the type of work (e.g. seasonal work, auxiliary work, etc.). Each category has different requirements and documentation.

Documentation for the worker

  • Copy of passport
  • Employment contract
  • Declaration of accuracy of data
  • Power of attorney for the lawyer (if applicable)

Documentation for the employer

  • Articles of incorporation
  • Certificate from the G.E.M.I. register
  • Personal document of the legal representative
  • Business activity codes (KAD)
  • Financial data (Form N for the current year)

The employer must also demonstrate financial capacity to employ workers.
